The midweeks over 60’s competition held at Hartley on Wednesday 18th December, open to all KPA members, was extremely well attended with 38 players playing in 19 doubles teams. 22 teams had pre-registered for the event, but 3 teams were unable to attend, we wish them a speedy recovery. Demand for places resulted in the 16 team entry limit being increased by the organisers.
The midweek event was blessed with pleasant weather considering it was December. As you can see from the choice of photographs. The format of the day was 2 timed games of 50 minutes in the morning followed by an hour for lunch. This was followed by a further two timed games in the afternoon. As you can see from the prize schedule, games won was close with points difference being critical.
The day started at 10.30am and finished, including presentation of prizes, by 3.30pm.

Of note, Carolyn and Chris winning two games, having had level scores at the end of regular time and being victorious in the one ball super end for each team!
A donation of £15 was made to the KPA junior fund, being the profit from the en piste catering and change donations from competitors.
Discussions during the day revealed that players were very enthusiastic about the nature and style of the competition and would like the event to be repeated on a regular basis.
