Fifteen players entered the Kent Singles Championship, held at the Railway Inn on a very warm summer’s evening. Clubs represented were Railway, Meadow, GRFC, Tovil, Crockenhill & The Earl Grey.

Players were drawn into four leagues of four, with one league having a bye. League matches were played up to 9 points, and the winners and runners up of each league went into the gold top 8. All third and fourth placed players went into the silver competition. There were some very tight leagues, with two of the four being decided on points difference for who made the gold.

The quarter and semi finals were played as first to 11 points. In the gold semi finals, Dean Ashby beat Steve Wells, and Jason White beat Kai Sheffield, setting up a final between the England pair. It was a very tight contest with some high quality play from both players on a tricky piste. Jason eventually seeing out a 13-9 win to claim the singles championship.

In the silver final Richard Ruddick had to come from behind and had a strong second half of the match to beat Andy Dunstall 13-11 to win the silver competition.

Well done to all involved and many thanks to the Railway Inn for hosting us.
