The Kent Pétanque League season is well underway and progressing well, as are the Cup & Plate competitions, which have now reached the semi final stages.
Played at a neutral venue and with the draws being done on the night there is always a good buzz and atmosphere on the night. Hartley PC will host all 4 semi finals on Wednesday 25th June and spectators / supporters are welcome.
The cup is an all division 1 affair with Earl Grey Stars, Meadow 1, Railway Rogues & White House Lions making it to the semi finals. White House Lions had a strong 5-0 win in the quarter final at home to Sidcup Reckers. The other 3 quarter finals were much tighter contests, all finishing 3-2! Railway Rogues had a good win away at GRFC Lions, and in a clash of the titans Meadow 1 overcame Railway Rising. Earl Grey Stars also picked up a 3-2 away win at Ightham PC, despite only having 4 players available for the match!
In the plate, the four semi finalists are Ditton, Harrow Percherons, Istead Rise Spitfires & New Ash Green 1. Harrow Percherons and New Ash Green 1 had convincing 4-1 wins over Duke of Wellington Troopers and Lordswood Moldavians respectively. Ditton battled to a 3-2 away win at Earl Grey Lions, while Istead Rise Spitfires also had a 3-2 win, at home versus Hartley Elm. The plate semi finalists range from divisions two down to four.
The 25th June looks set to be a lovely summer’s evening, with temperatures around 21ºC at 8pm when the matches get underway! With thanks to Mick Nash and the KPL for the information.
