On Sunday 21st July Pétanque England held the annual EuroCup semi finals day. The EuroCup for clubs competition aims to find the best team from each European country, who then all play against each other at the international final tournament, usually held in France in November.

Teams from all over the country entered, and played off in their regional brackets until there are 12 teams left who qualified for the semi finals. These teams join the 4 seeded teams from last year’s results to make 16 teams. There is then a seeded draw of four groups of four teams for the semi finals.

Meadow PC were drawn alongside Feering Bell, Towers & Chesterfield, with the group being played at Oxshott Village Sports Club in Surrey. Meadow had a brilliant day and won each round 5-0! This secured their top spot in the group and qualification for the final.

Also competing from Kent were GRFC PC, however things didn’t quite go their way in some tight matches, and they did not manage to qualify for the final.

Joining Meadow in the final will be Baldock Town, River Hamble & London. The final is played over the weekend of 17th & 18th August at Leicester. The winner of this group will then represent England internationally in France later this year.

Meadow PC Squad: Becky Edwins, Rowland Jones, Reece Gould, Dean Ashby, Kai Sheffield, Alex Spillett, Jason White & David Plumhoff
