This popular and well supported monthly event was held on National Lemon Juice day, so this was adopted as the theme for the day and involved a twist, as has become usual in the final game of the day. As can be seen in the picture above, lemons replaced the usual regulation jack!
In previous competitions the jack has been replaced with red onions on National Onion Day and Babybel cheese on National Wine & Cheese Day.
The day started with very heavy rain, which as forecast by “Michael Fish” stopped at 10:30 and improved with warm sunshine for the after-lunch games.
The format was two timed games in the morning followed by lunch and then a jack throwing competition to two disguised prizes of lemon juice and could be lemon juice, nearest thrown jack winning. Well done to the two winners of this contest. Then a further two timed games. All complete by 3:45pm.
Twenty two teams had pre-registered to take part in the competition, fifteen on the day that registration opened! Nineteen teams took part in the competition in total. Thirty eight players of mixed abilities taking part in the game they enjoy. Good results were squeezed out by all players who got passed the pith and just pipped each other in the results with a few twists along the way.
