There was a time this year I wondered if we were going to have any warm evenings. However despite the late summer the KPA have had a very eventful first half of the summer. KPA member Becky Edwins has been to the European Championships for Singles, Doubles & Triples. Kent junior James Rudden won the National Singles competition and Tegan Finley won the junior National Shooting competition! Tegan is also representing England as the Junior Captain later this year at the European Championships in Spain.
We had 2 Kent teams attend the EuroCup semi finals, Meadow PC going through their semi final without dropping a game to make the final. It is fair to say GRFC had a tough group and found it a little more challenging, but overall a good showing from Kent.
We have had our Kent Regional Qualifiers and the top 8 teams have achieved Kent representation in the Championship, and another 4 in the Challenge, which will be held in September. Reports are that Pakefield, the regional competition venue, has improved. However it is believed that this will be the last year it will host the competition.
We have 7 representatives going away with the England squad to Jersey this weekend to take on Scotland, Wales and Jersey in the Home Nations competition. Becky Edwins, Tim Edwins, Steve Brown, Scott Ashby, Aston Monk, Jason White & Kai Sheffield will all be making the short flight over to Jersey and we all wish them all the best and hope they retain the trophy.
The KPL is now well over half way through, and some front runners are starting to show in each league. A couple of issues have arisen this year, but as usual, all sorted by the KPL management team – thanks for all the work folks.
We are starting to have some local open competitions on the calendar. Keep an eye open for the dates, they are a great opportunity to share experiences with different players and improve your own game!
