Hartley Pétanque Club have to report the sad loss of Jim Dunn who passed away on the 30th September after a short illness, aged 90.
Jim was a long-standing member of the pétanque section supporting all internal competitions, practice days and social events, as well as running the box leagues for several years.
He represented Hartley in the Kent league for many years, right up to when he became unwell. A very kind, quiet, considerate and reliable man, always willing to help at our piste maintenance days.
Jim was present one day when Kent player Morton Almond came to Hartley for a competition. It turned out that Morton and Jim did their basic training for National Service together some 50 plus years earlier and had not seen each other since.
He will be greatly missed by all at Hartley Country Club and the Kent Pétanque Association.
