Kent Squad Day

28 members of the Kent squad gathered at GRFC on Sunday 8th September for an informal squad day. The idea, from the Kent Playing Committee, was for members to meet up and play some games amongst themselves and also give a chance for the squad to socialise and bond together before the Inter Regional Championship & Challenge at Pakefield next weekend.

The pétanque tournament software the KPA uses is also capable of running melee competitions. A melee is where players enter as single entries, and the software makes random teams for each round. This gives a chance for players to play with other squad members and to discuss new ideas, techniques and tactics.

Two rounds of melee were played and then the pizzas arrived! Players ate and chatted, again forming bonds and building squad morale. 17 people then stayed on for a third round of melee before an end to the day was called.

The KPA would like to thank GRFC for their hospitality and use of the pistes under the roof, which proved to be invaluable, during a rainy day!
