A somewhat disappointing turnout of 6 teams attended to compete for the KPA Mixed Doubles Championship at the Railway Inn PC on Sunday 30th June. Clubs represented were Bat & Ball, Crockenhill, Meadow & Tovil. The format was a 6 team round robin.

At the end of the day, 1 team had won all 5 matches and turned out to be deserving winners. Congratulations go to Dean Ashby & Alex Spillett from Meadow PC. Runners up with 4 out of 5 wins were Becky Edwins & Jason White, also from Meadow PC. Third place with 3 wins, completing the clean sweep for Meadow were Corinne Cooter & Trevor Gordon.

Alex & Dean started off well with a 13-6 win against Brian & Sonya, but then had to come through a very tight game winning 13-12 v Carolyn & Tim. The third round proved crucial as they secured a 13-7 win versus Becky & Jason, strong contenders for the title. After lunch Dean & Alex continued their fine form with 13-2 and 13-10 wins to secure the title.

Carolyn Edwins & Tim Edwins from Bat & Ball PC were fourth, Sonya Davis & Brian Webb from Crockenhill PC were fifth and Clive Hall & Susie Hall from Tovil PC were sixth.

Many thanks to Dave Littley and the Railway Inn PC for their hospitality and hosting the event.
