Kent Pétanque Association Doubles at GRFC

Thirteen teams braved a chilly and at times wet day, to take part in the KPA doubles held on Sunday, 28th April 2024. The prize money had been increased by 30% by the KPA. The format was a 3 round Swiss followed by straight knockout after lunch. Eight teams progressed into the gold competition and five into the silver.

The standard of play was high in a friendly but fiercely competitive spirit. The silver winners were Steve Brown and Jean Louis Guillot. The beaten semi finalists in the gold were Keith Atkinson with Trevor Gordon and Alex Spillettwith Geoff Booth. In the final Becky Edwins and Jason White beat Tim Edwins and Aston Monk 13-6. Both teams will represent Kent at the national Champion of Champions event also to be hosted at GRFC on Saturday October 12 2024. Congratulations to both teams! Thanks to GRFC for hosting this event!

May is dominated by the Southern weekend of petanque and PetanqueEngland events. The next regional events in Kent will be the Gravesend Sunday Doubles on Sunday May 26 at GRFC – pre entry and payment required. This is followed by the KPA Shooting Championship on Friday May 31 at the Railway and then the third KPA Regional Qualifier at Lordswood on Sunday June 2.
